Bay County Florida has decided to name May as Women’s Health Month. Women, in an effort to care for family and friends, all too often neglect their own health. This can not only jeopardize their own wellness, but also their ability to continue caring for friends and family. It is in this spirit that Bay County encourages awareness and a proactive approach to protecting one’s health. The Health Department suggests a number of tips such as eating right and getting 7-9 hours sleep each night. In addition, it is important to engage in preventative health screenings such as mammograms and blood tests, covered by most health insurance policies, and to know one’s family history. Seeing a physician for regular checkups and go a great way toward preventing chronic and costly problems. How many women engage in preventative care compared to their male counterparts?
