Representatives from the health insurance industry have made the promise to end the practice of gender disparity in health insurance premiums in an effort to stave off the formation of a universal health care system which could eventually spell the end of private insurance. The health insurance companies fear that a government run system will eventually squeeze them out of the marketplace, making them anxious to be as cooperative as possible. In one effort to accomplish this, the long standing practice on charging women more for comparable health care than their male counterparts is said to be coming to an end. But will they keep their promise?
