Florida made a number of difficult decisions recently to balance the state budget, and there are a lot of taxes involved. A number of budget cuts are threatening state jobs as well, as many as 800, however the new budget will offset this by creating 10,000 new jobs. Workers who earn over $45,000 yearly will see a 2% cut in pay, while legislators are taking a 7% cut in pay. However, neither thousands of top state workers nor legislators will see an end to their free health insurance coverages. Apparently the value of health insurance is now well known when legislators are willing to lose 7% of their pay in exchange for keeping their full health insurance coverage. What are your thoughts?
