Florida, which is high on a bad list when it comes to health insurance coverage for its children, is pushing to help resolve that problem. Alex Sink and Kathy Castor, two prominant Florida Democrats are pushing for Obama to approve expansion of SCHIP, or the State Children’s Health Insurance Program. The program was designed to help insure the many children whose parents do not qualify for Medicaid, but who still cannot afford to secure health insuranc on their own. Thus far, states have been required to match the amount the federal government offers for aid, but budget deficits are making this difficult. Their is a waiver being proposed to delay the match for one year, allowing states to help those in need and giving them time to come up with the funds. Do you think Obama will approve these measures when the program comes up for review in March?
