Along the Treasure Coast, free and low cost health clinics have been the saving grace for Floridians without health insurance. As the economy has declined, and more people have lost their jobs and group health insurance coverage, citizens are seeking treatment at these public facilities. Since these clinics depend on grants, donations, limited fees, and volunteers, will they survive the added strain of the recession and continue being able to help Florida’s uninsured?
