A study released by the Florida Association of Community Health Centers urges legislators to invest more money in community health care clinics which provide access to primary care for all Floridians regardless of whether they have health insurance or not. The study shows that allowing more Floridians access to this care will save the state as much as $700 million a year by providing citizens with comprehensive care outside of high priced emergency rooms. While more federal funding is expected thanks to Obama’s announcement to provide $10 million for the funding of eight such clinics in Florida, the Association urges the State of Florida to become involved as well and supplement this amount to make clinics a more viable option for a greater number of Floridians. Given the state of the nation, with more people losing their health insurance every day due to unemployment, do you agree that public clinics will become increasingly important for those in need of care?
