COBRA Health Insurance Too High in Florida

Times are tough for everyone these days, but especially for Floridians who now find themselves without work and with the task of procuring their own insurance coverage. Florida is one of nine states in which the cost of COBRA in Florida is high, insurance available to people for a certain period of time after they have been laid off, meets or exceeds total unemployment benefits. So for people struggling on the meager offerings of unemployment, just keeping health insurance could use up all of those resources. And if people are given the choice between food and insurance, which are they likely to choose? What does Florida need to do if it wants to decrease the number of uninsured citizens?
